Project Statement
This project is a task to create three different poster designs of headline, symbol, and body copy to tell the history of a letter in typography. The letter “J” was chosen for this topic as it is the last letter added to the Alphabet by Gian Giorgio Trissino in 1524. Once an embellished swash and its lowercase letter used for the Roman numerals system, now it is a part of the alphabet where we use it in our words today such as joyful and hallelujah. With the history of the letter it must be told in a story form where a scenario of the letter “J” being late to a party with all the other letters. Since the theme of the design is being fashionably late to a party it would be in best interest to use an elegant font and also colors. The fonts used throughout the poster designs are Lush for its elegant handwritten curves and Adobe Garamond Pro for its classic design. The colors of deep plum were used to compliment the design because of its luxury and elegant feeling. The design for the three posters is to use curves and angles The compliments a script font used for the “letter” J.  is the way for the viewers to read along the paragraph as it’s curving around the letter.
